DevouGrass 2014

By Robert Fugate on August 6, 2014 in Uncategorized

We’re excited to be a part of the first annual DevouGrass Festival at Devou Park in Covington on Oct 4th. Mark your calendars for a fantastic event featuring some of the regions finest string bands and vendors all benefiting the Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky.

All performances will take place at the Bandshell in Devou Park from Noon to Dusk. We’ll list exact showtimes closer to the event date. In the meantime, have a look and listen below…

The Downtown County Band

It starts with 5 players. Each by their own right excellent singer-songwriters – with influences ranging  from 1920’s Delta Blues, to 60’s Rock N Roll, to punk rock and Bluegrass, all the way to the likes of Bob Marley and Jack Johnson – a band of influences able to play together, sing together, and blend styles into one new and original sound. Banjo, mandolin, guitar, and upright bass – surprisingly full and dynamic, with as much sonic variety as there are members of the band.

Hickory Robot

Hickory Robot is a Newgrass quintet from Cincinnati, Ohio that has established a reputation throughout the Midwest for their “stellar songwriting” and “impeccable musicianship”.  The band formed in late 2008 and have since released two critically-acclaimed albums, including 2012’s Sawyer, which was nominated for a Cincinnati Entertainment Award for Album of the Year.  In addition, the band has received 3 consecutive CEA nominations for Best Bluegrass Band.

Blue Caboose

Blue Caboose is railways, mountain tops, swimmin’ holes and rivers. Dancing and singing on the front porch, in the basement or in the bar. Blue Caboose is an Americana- Folk- Bluegrass burrito topped with a tasty 3-part harmony.

Ma Crow and the Ladyslippers

Cincinnati’s only all-female acoustic band performing bluegrass, traditional and old-timey music, Ma Crow and The Lady Slippers formed in May, 2011. A Cincinnati icon in her own right, female acoustic artist Ma Crow played for many years with a well-known Cincinnati band, The Flock, and then later played with good friend, Trina Emig in another local band, The Mother Pluckers. Ma Crow is a CAMMY award winner and multi-nominee for the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards.

We are super excited to add the awe-inspiring Circus Mojo to our list of main stage performers!
