Earlier this year Billy Two Shoes walked into Mind Ignition Studios and knocked out this impressive set of tracks in one day. The album was recorded almost entirely live by Mind Ignition’s Robert Fugate. Regular B2S contributor Gary Harden added some dobro and mandolin at his studio down in North Carolina and then applied the mix.
Billy Two Shoes’ new album is just a feel good story no matter how you look at it. The band gives 100% of their proceeds to help feed folks in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana and they have donated over $20,000 since their formation in 2008.
On top of that, this album is smokin’. The songwriting is excellent and this all acoustic lineup has plenty of chops and vocal talent to satisfy the most discerning Americana/Bluegrass listener. Bourbon for Beans showcases a little more of the Billies’ serious side topically when juxtaposed to previous tracks such as “Thank You Exxon” and “Marble Cow Brains”, but it still contains enough light hearted Appalachian fun to put a smile on anyone’s face.
We hope you’ll stop by the Billies’ official website to have a listen and maybe grab a copy for yourself… which will help them Billies keep feedin’ folks!!
